RE: Lot Purchase for Retirement

Yes, we bought a lot at a resort in So Cal 8 years ago. It has served us well when we need to be in that part of the country. A small home can be built, RV ports, or nothing (as in our case). The lawn, etc are all tended as part of the HOA fees....no worries. It gets rented when we like with an onsite mgt company. We have never felt the need to be there just because we own it. In fact, if we never use it again, that is OK, too :E It is a good investment. We will sell it when we no longer need it.....

RE: How many of us are waiting for the SOLD sign?

In addition to the house that just went into escrow yesterday, we are entering escrow on our RV lot in the same complex :B So, soon we will be RE'less...for a while :W Once we knew the house was in escrow, Terry told me to call the agent for the RV lots and tell him to list it. I did and he said he had a buyer...wanted our lot and no other :E Things are happening fast around here :E Hope y'all will be as fortunate...things may be changing :B

RE: How many of us are waiting for the SOLD sign?

Yes, as of today ours is going into escrow :E We took a loss, but you know what? we will be out from under it :E We bought this house for MIL to live in so she would not be homeless. We certainly would never live in it...ever.... so now some other kindly old lady will have a nice house to call home. :W It showed only once in 6 weeks and this is the lady who wants it :B No saint was involved :W unless you call our REA a saint, which I am willing to do :B

RE: Using an auction to sell the stuff -- one year later

We were just in that situation with a house we own that MIL lived in. She had nice stuff. Realtor wanted the house empty, so we had to make haste to find homes for everything. The last to go was my piano which my son arranged to have moved. So....no staging for us.

RE: Is this a common 'symptom' of full-timing?

Life is a vacation :W One of the FT requirements is that you become a comedian. If you can't, you won't last long out here, for sure :W

RE: For Employers - Workamper Package

I will step up to the plate. As a workcamper and also a cg manager, I can speak from both viewpoints. Our current position is very fair, as far as I am concerned. We work 11 hours a week for site, utilities, etc, until the seasonal rate for the site is reached. Then all hours are paid. Perks are many which include golf, pools, discounts in the cafe, store, etc. River trips, dinners out, concerts, are all included, plus a terrific area. Wages vary according to experience and senority. I feel this is fair. It will not support a family, but then, we are not trying to do that. It gives us a great place to spend time, keeps us busy and helps the bottom line. We have made wonderful friends who are more like family and meet many fine folks. I know there are those who will disagree with my viewpoint. Having owned small businesses for over 30 years, I am intimately familiar with the concerns of cg owners. Most are operating on a very slim line, and if they are fair with me, I will support and be fair with them. Moderator Note: Please keep this thread positive. I will not tolerate bashing or thrashing or "labor organizers". If you don't like what the OP is asking, don't respond. DianneOK, moderator

RE: Medicine Cabinet and Toilet!

Accidents like this leads me to my question. Does anyone have a solution to the medicine cabinet problem? I tape our door shut, but after we set up and I open the medicine cabinet all the contents fall out. Why don't they make a lip on the shelves? Maybe our trailer is just too old and they have already fixed this problem. Has anyone found a solution? Yes...those extension rods, on every shelf :B

RE: Is this a common 'symptom' of full-timing?

Yup...that's one of the first symptoms of FTS (full timer syndrome). Next one will be knowing it is time to move on when you know all the backroads to Wally World to avoid traffic :E

RE: banking ????? for fulltimers

Our original CU (when we hit the road) is part of the nationwide CU network. We can bank at any participating CU. We also have our main CU in our home of record where all our bills are paid, our cc's are and other various accounts. We also open accts at local banks if we are going to be in an area for a long period of time......it all works well for us and we have had no problems. Almost all of our financials are done online.
